Quiet Village Get-away

Old Cleeve is a tiny village built around the church of St Andrews.  It is an extremely friendly community and guests at Blueberry Cottage are welcome at the Lysaght club for a drink or game of skittles on a Friday evening.  There are numerous National Trust walks from the village to surrounding areas and an OS map and binoculars in the cottage for those who fancy a quick ramble

Blueberry Cottage is one of a terrace of three dating back to the time of St. Andrews Church and is situated only a matter of yards from the church itself.

The second heart of the village community is the Lysaght Club which is a short stroll around the corner.  Blueberry Cottage guests are welcome at the club and you will find details in your welcome pack on arrival at the cottage.

The village is about half a mile from the A39 Bridgwater to Minehead road and so around 30 minutes from the M5 Junction 22 or 23.  The coast at Blue Anchor Bay is a short drive or very pleasant walk

The Church of St Andrews dates back to the sixteenth century as do some of the older dwellings in Old Cleeve, including Blueberry Cottage.  Services are held on Sundays and all are welcome to attend.  After the service there is a very informal coffee morning in the adjacent church hall.

Another focal point for the village community is the Lysaght Club and Hall.  The Hall and Club were donated to the village in 1923, by Gerald Lysaght, a local industrialist & land owner, for the benefit of his estate workers. The club is open at weekends and welcomes guests of Blueberry Cottage.

In the grounds behind the club is the village orchard which contains a huge variety of apple trees
