Close to Exmoor & the sea

The surrounding are has much to offer every taste.  The West Somerset Railway, Minehead & Butlins, sea fishing at BlueAnchor, fly fishing for trout on the Washford & Barle and the local adventure park at Tropaquaria

West Somerset has much to offer interests of all ages.  Pictured is the annual Dunster Show and a selection of activities on our doorstep.

There are numerous signposted walks in the area and an OS Map and binoculars available in the cottage.  The Seafront at Blue Anchor Bay is about a half mile walk. There is a swimming pool at the Hoburne Park and a traditional seaside eatery at the Driftwood Cafe.The West Somerset Railway runs from Bishops Lydiard to Minehead with stations at Washford, Watchet and Blue Anchor all within easy reach

Flyfishing is available nearby on the River Washford and also on the River Barle on Exmoor – contact us for details. There are also a number of lakes nearby. Fly and coarse rods & tackle are available for guests.

A couple of miles away at Washford is Tropiquaria which is a great visit for the children. It is a zoo and animal sanctuary with outdoor adventure play area

Pubs with Grub

The White Horse Inn at Roadwater is a short drive away or a good walk for the more active. Traditional pub food

The Valiant Soldier in Roadwater has a skittle alley and serves good pub food

The Star Inn in Watchet is a very popular local pub serving traditional Sunday lunches

Pebbles Tavern in Watchet is a quirky bar and well worth a visit. It is very small, however so we are not sure exactly how it will be operating this summer

Places to Eat

The Driftwood Cafe at Blue Anchor serves simple food throughout the day and worth popping in if you are having a stroll along the sea-front

The Spice Merchant in Watchet does excellent Indian food and a take-away service is available.  Highly recommended by all Blueberry staff!

Traditional fish and chips are available from The Harbour Fish Bar in Watchet and their food has won awards

Torre Cider Farm is well worth a visit for, apart from the obvious, you can get a fantastic Full English breakfast (including a gluten free version)

Fine Dining

The White House Hotel has a brand new, state of the art restaurant. The White House Hotel serves a wide ranging variety of cuisine including English, Italian, French, Indian, and Chinese

The Notley Arms is a little further away in Monksliver but has excellent reviews on google and well worth the extra trip

Reeves is a multi-award winning fine dining restaurant in Dunster. They serve local product and seasonal cuisine. Reeves is chef-owned and believes in a passion for great food, great atmosphere and good times.
